Studio Dress Code
FOR THE 2025-2026 ACADEMIC SEASON
At Bridgeman Academy, we believe that the right attire helps students focus, move freely, and develop confidence — all while creating a polished and professional environment. Our dress code is designed to match each class’s unique movement needs while promoting discipline and unity.
Below you’ll find an overview of what your student will need to wear based on their level program and classes:
Hair
Girls: Hair must be pulled back into a neat bun (no braids or claw clips) for all ballet and pointe classes.
For all other classes, hair must be pulled up and away from the face. For drama, voice, and other non-dance classes, there is no hair dress code unless specified by the instructor.
Jewelry & Watches
For ALL dance classes: Jewelry may not be worn except for small stud earrings. Smartwatches and smart bands are not allowed during class.
For all other classes: No Dress Code (concerning jewelry).
Academy Colors
Academy colors are Pink, Lilac, Mulberry, Eggplant, and Black.
Neutral colors are shades of white, tan, and black.
Pre-Combo, Pre-Tumbling
Ballet & Tap
Girls: Leotard or basic dance dress (any solid color). Tights, shorts, and skirts are optional. Pink leather full-sole ballet shoes. Black tap shoes (velcro).
Boys: Solid-colored t-shirt, athletic shorts. Black leather full-sole ballet shoes. Black tap shoes.
Tumbling
Girls: Leotard, biketard/unitard, or basic dance dress (any solid color). Footless/convertible tights, dance shorts, or leggings are optional.
Boys: Solid colored t-shirt, athletic shorts.
Beginning Combo, Tumbling, Hip Hop
Ballet & Tap
Girls: Light Pink leotard, “ballet pink” footed tights. Pink leather full-sole ballet shoes. Black tap shoes (tie or velcro).
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black leather full-sole ballet shoes. Black lace-up tap shoes.
Tumbling
Girls: Any Academy-colored leotard*, footless or convertible tights. Dance shorts or leggings are optional.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts.
Hip Hop
Athletic clothing in Academy colors. Sneakers (not chunky), dance sneakers, or jazz shoes. No busy patterns or big logos.
Intermediate Combo, Tumbling, Hip Hop
Ballet, Tap, Jazz
Girls: Lilac leotard (attached skirt is fine), “ballet pink” footed tights. Dance shorts or leggings can be worn for tap and jazz. Pink leather full-sole ballet shoes. Black tap shoes (tie or velcro), Skin-Tone Jazz shoes.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black leather full-sole ballet shoes.
Black lace-up tap shoes, Black Jazz Shoes.
Tumbling
Girls: Any Academy-colored leotard*, footless or convertible tights. Dance shorts or leggings are optional.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts.
Hip Hop
Athletic clothing in Academy colors. Sneakers (not chunky), dance sneakers, or jazz shoes. No busy patterns or big logos.
Pre-Teen & Teen
Ballet
Girls: Any Academy colored* leotard, pink footed tights. Pink ballet shoes.
Boys: Solid-Colored t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black ballet shoes.
Tap
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn. Black leather lace-up tap shoes.
Jazz
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn.
Girls: Nude split sole jazz shoes.
Boys: Black split sole jazz shoes.
Hip Hop
Athletic clothing in Academy colors. Sneakers (not chunky), dance sneakers, or jazz shoes. No busy patterns or big logos.
Level 1
Ballet
Girls: Mulberry leotard, pink footed tights. Pink leather full-sole ballet shoes.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black leather full-sole ballet shoes.
Tap
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn.
Girls: Black Mary Jane tap shoes
Boys: Black lace-up tap shoes.
Jazz
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn.
Girls: Skin Tone jazz shoes.
Boys: Black jazz shoes.
Lyrical
Same as Jazz dress code, with turners.
Company Class
Ballet dress code with custom Leotard (only available through Bridgeman Academy). Appropriate ballet warm-ups may be worn.
Tumbling
Girls: Any Academy colored* leotard, footless or convertible tights. Dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may also be worn.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts.
Baton
Same as Tumbling Dress Code, Jazz shoes.
Hip Hop
Athletic clothing in Neutral or Academy colors*. Sneakers (not chunky).
Level 2
Ballet
Girls: Eggplant leotard, pink footed tights. Pink, split-sole ballet shoes.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black, split-sole ballet shoes.
Tap
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn. Black leather lace-up tap shoes.
Jazz / Lyrical
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn.
Girls: Skin Tone jazz shoes (Jazz), Turners (Lyrical).
Boys: Black jazz shoes.
Contemporary
Ballet dress code with dance appropriate layers on top. Students must wear a long-sleeve top to this class. Black socks, no shoes.
Company
Ballet dress code with custom Leotard (only available through Bridgeman Academy).
Tumbling
Girls: Any Academy colored* leotard/unitard, dance shorts in Neutral or Academy colors* may also be worn, no footed tights,
Boys: Athletic t-shirt, black athletic shorts.
Baton

Level 3
Ballet
Girls: Black leotard, pink footed tights. Pink, split-sole ballet shoes.
Boys: White t-shirt, black athletic shorts. Black, split-sole ballet shoes.
Tap
Ballet dress code. Form-fitting dance shorts or leggings in Neutral or Academy colors* may be worn.
Level 3A: Black leather lace-up tap shoes.
Level 3B: Weighted and stacked tap shoes, preferably Jason Samuels Smith.
Other Classes
Pointe: Ballet Dress Code with pointe shoes.
Contortion: Tumbling Dress Code
Leaps & Turns, PBT: Any dance clothes with form-fitting warm-ups (neutral or academy colors only).
Lyra: Tumbling Dress Code
Musical Theatre: Clothing that is easy to move in. No jeans. Jazz shoes preferred (skin tone color for girls, black for boys).
